Membership There are three types: Full Membership, Patron or Membership of Young Arcadians. Full Membership So – you can sing, you’ve always fancied being on stage, maybe do a little bit of acting or dancing and are aged 16 or over, then maybe you’re just the sort of person we’re looking for to join our friendly society. We rehearse at the Norton Methodist Community Centre, Letchworth Garden City on Tuesday evenings mainly, but as a show approaches the cast may also be required to attend on Thursday evenings. There is usually one Sunday rehearsal as well. Auditioning is quite simple – and not too painful. Auditionees are asked to prepare a vocal audition, in addition they will be asked to sing a few scales and read a short piece of dialogue. The audition panel consists of the musical director and a few committee members. Auditions usually take place in May/June and November/December. If you are successful then there will be a membership fee to pay (currently £30 per annum - £25 if you are under 18 or in full time education) which covers most things, but you will be asked to provide some items of costume (shoes, hosiery, gloves etc.) and the occasional small prop and I’m afraid tea and biscuits at rehearsals also incurs a small outlay! Patrons By becoming a Patron or Group Patron you will receive advance notification of shows, along with priviledge booking as well as regular newsletter containing details of all our activities. Young Arcadians Young Arcadians are aged from 10 – 18 years and we meet on Saturday mornings from 10.00 – 12.30 from September to February. After Christmas until the performance in February half term we also meet for rehearsals on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 p.m. – 9.00 p.m. Auditions are held once a year in May or June. Subscriptions at present are £25.00 per year.
